1. Construction Preparation

  1. Site survey and planning: Conduct a detailed survey of the hot blast furnace's on-site environment, including the hot blast furnace's  structure, size, working conditions, and surrounding environment. Based on  the survey results, develop a detailed insulation construction plan and  material requirements list.

  2. Material procurement and preparation: According to the  construction plan, purchase appropriate amounts of insulation materials,  such as ceramic fiber blankets , aluminum silicate fiber wool, lightweight refractory bricks, insulation coatings, special adhesives, etc. At the same time, prepare necessary construction tools, fixings (such as anchors,  metal mesh) and protective equipment.

  3. Safety measures: Ensure that safety measures are in place at the  construction site, including wearing heat-resistant and  corrosion-resistant personal protective equipment, setting up safety  warning signs, ensuring good ventilation in the construction area, and preparing emergency response plans.

2. Insulation layer construction

  1. Basic treatment: Thoroughly clean the inner and outer walls of the  hot blast furnace to remove oil, rust, dust and loose refractory materials to ensure that the insulation layer can fit tightly.

  2. Insulation material installation:

    • Ceramic fiber blanket /aluminum silicate fiber cotton: according  to the shape and size of the hot air furnace, cut the appropriate ceramic fiber blanket or aluminum silicate fiber cotton, and use a special  adhesive to stick it on the inner or outer wall of the hot air furnace,   ensuring that it is firmly pasted without gaps. At corners, edges and seams, use special-shaped materials or special sealing materials for filling and sealing.

    • Lightweight refractory bricks: In areas where higher fire resistance is required, lightweight refractory bricks are used for masonry, and refractory mortar is used for grouting to ensure that the brick joints are tight and have good fire resistance.

    • Thermal insulation coating: In some areas where it is difficult to stick thermal insulation materials, such as the top or side of the hot  air furnace, thermal insulation coating can be sprayed to form a continuous thermal insulation layer.

  3. Multi-layer insulation structure: According to the design requirements, it may be necessary to build a multi-layer insulation structure. Each layer of insulation material should be tightly fitted and reinforced with adhesives or fasteners. At the same time, pay attention to the gap treatment between the layers to prevent heat leakage.

3. Special parts treatment

  1. Hot air pipes and valves: Key parts such as hot air pipes and valves require special attention to the continuity of the insulation layer. Use special insulation materials to wrap the pipes and valves to ensure that the insulation layer can fit tightly and is not easy to fall off.

  2. Observation windows and inspection ports: The observation windows  and inspection ports of the hot air furnace should be closed with removable insulation devices. These devices should be easy to remove and  reinstall for daily maintenance and inspection.

4. Construction Completion and Inspection

  1. Clean up the site: After the construction is completed, clean up the construction site and remove excess insulation materials, adhesives and other debris. Ensure that the construction site is clean and free of safety hazards.

  2. Quality inspection: Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the construction quality of the insulation layer, including the pasting of insulation materials, gap treatment, overall structural stability, etc. Ensure that the insulation layer is not damaged or has no gaps and meets the design requirements.

  3. Acceptance and record keeping: Invite relevant personnel to  conduct acceptance to ensure that the construction quality of the insulation layer meets the standards. At the same time, keep good construction records, including the type, quantity, installation location and other information of the insulation materials, for subsequent      maintenance and repair.
